Weymouth Area Development Trust

It took a full application form to get the chance to ‘Pitch’, and we got through.

Then a trip to Bristol to pitch what we want to do to an audience of social enterprises and the School Of Social Entrepreneurs. We got through.

We went again to Bristol to pitch to the finance guys including Lloyds Bank reps.

And we got through! We are delighted to have won a place on the Lloyds Bank and School of Social Entrepreneurs programme. Why? Because social enterprise is a force in the economy now and getting bigger, as public services feel the squeeze. We get the chance to pick the brains of people and organisations that have changed our world, on a big scale like Open University or the Dartington Trust,  or on a smaller scale like befriending organisations, music to unlock memories in dementia patients, woodworking to raise funds for skills training. All these ideas, people who think outside the box and join business thinking with community awareness. Brilliant!

We already have social enterprise members at Starfish Enterprise CoWorking Hub and it is going to be great to bring more ideas and experience back into our Town.

Thank you to all of you who have supported us to make the application!
