Weymouth’s first Community Land Trust
As a resident led group we set up an Affordable Homes Group in 2019. We are all residents in Weymouth and we are currently searching for suitable building plots/buildings. Using the Community Land Trust model we hope to get funding into the Town to create genuinely affordable homes for people, including young people, with a connection to the Town.
Community land trusts (CLTs) are set up and run by ordinary people to develop and manage homes as well as other assets. CLTs act as long-term stewards of housing, ensuring that homes and any other assets remain genuinely affordable, based on what people actually earn in their area, not just for now but for every future occupier.
